Regina Sipavičiūtė. Light&Rhythm

Regina Sipavičiūtė. Light&Rhythm

Regina Sipavičiūtė. Light&Rhythm

Regina Sipavičiūtė is a textile artist represented by Arka Gallery. Her practice includes textile miniatures, embroidery and hand-knitting.

In the series Light&Rhythm, her textile compositions form semantic structures of signs referring to Lithuania’s cultural heritage and national identity. The works are based on geometric patterns, structures and rhythm, and are created using an original technique of winding silk threads onto flat surfaces. The threads are stretched by hand across plates of geometric shapes, which change visually depending on the lighting and viewing angle, creating an optical art effect.

Her work reflects the principles of Op Art, while the geometry of the compositions connects with Lithuanian folk ornamentation. Through these structures, the artist explores new interpretations of national ornament and its significance in contemporary art.

Justina Tula. POLIANKA (2020)

Justina Tula. FOREBODING (2020)

Justina Tula. THE EQUINOX (2023)

Justina Tula is a fine art photographer represented by Pamėnkalnio Gallery, working with analogue photography. Her practice is based on an intuitive image-making process, primarily using self-made pinhole cameras to reduce direct control over the final image. Her work focuses on self-portraiture, often set in uninhabited or abandoned spaces where body and place become part of a single narrative.

The White Dress is a series of self-portraits created between 2019 and 2023 in a dying village in Northeastern Lithuania. Surrounded by abandoned homesteads and wild nature, the artist reflects on her relationship with a changing environment. Wearing a white dress found in one of the decaying houses, she poses before a self-made pinhole camera. Its long exposures mirror the stillness of the surroundings, blur the boundaries of identity, and evoke a liminal state between presence and disappearance. The dress becomes a ritual garment, marking a transition into this threshold space.

Deva_Bartninkaitė. Noise I-VI (2025)

Deva Bartninkaitė is a younger-generation textile artist represented by Arka Gallery. In her work, she combines linen fibre with magnetic tape from discarded VHS cassettes, weaving them together on a traditional loom.

VHS (Video Home System) cassette technology was developed in Japan in 1976 and soon spread rapidly across the globe, reaching Lithuania much later, following the restoration of independence in the 1990s. The artist’s work creates a synergy between two distinct image-making technologies — weaving and VHS — in which the content of the VHS magnetic tape, otherwise implied and no longer directly tangible, is transformed into a newly woven, textile-based visual “screen”.

The concept behind the works draws on the notion of the “image strip,” encompassing moving-image content recorded on tape, as well as on the principles of weaving technology, based on the arrangement of vertical and horizontal textile fibres. The artist reflects on different methods of recording memory and images and their evolution, focusing on the interplay between temporality, the imaginary and processes of imagining, and technology.

Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė. National dishes

Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė. Dimensions variable

Eglė Ganda Bogdanienė is a textile artist represented by Arka Gallery. Her practice explores textile technologies, experimental fashion design and innovative combinations of natural and eco-friendly synthetic materials.

In Dimensions Variable, a white knitted mesh made from PVA (polyvinyl alcohol) fibre, measuring 1 metre in width and 4 metres in length, was hung on an apple tree in the village of Pilis, Jurbarkas district. Exposed to morning dew and autumn humidity for three days, the material gradually dissolved and shrank into an irregular fragment, which the artist then removed and rolled into a 10 × 10 × 10 cm bundle.

Through experiments with materials and their reactions to atmospheric conditions, the artist explores innovative methods in textile and fashion design. Her work addresses sustainable consumption and circular production processes in fashion. Her research collections have received numerous awards, including the “Golden Shuttle” Grand Prize at the 2008 Lithuanian Textile Art Biennial City Signs and the Best Material Creative Award at the International Creative Pattern Design Competition 2018 at the Zhejiang Art Museum in Hangzhou, China.

Vasare & Lukas. Float fishing section (2026)

Vasare & Lukas. Fishing tackle box (2026)

Vasarė + Lukas is a young-generation artist duo represented by The Rooster Gallery, consisting of painters Vasarė Kuprevičiūtė and Lukas Pavilonis. Both study painting at the Vilnius Academy of Arts and exhibit together as a duo, while maintaining distinct individual artistic practices.

Working collaboratively, the artists seek to create a third creative entity that exists independently from their individual work. They explore the possibilities of painting beyond the canvas and its relationship with space, creating immersive painted installations composed of furniture, household objects, accessories, decorative elements, clothing and food items. Together, these elements form environments that resemble domestic interiors and function simultaneously as stage sets, painted props and spaces for both real and imagined stories. Individual canvases can be viewed as intimate fragments of everyday life, while also becoming part of a larger, constantly shifting installation.

At the centre of the duo’s practice are ideas of home, belonging and community. Through vivid and often playful representations of everyday objects, the artists draw on personal experiences and a desire for a space of their own, while also questioning the seriousness traditionally associated with art. Their installations reflect on domestic rituals, the passage of time and the ways personal narratives are shaped by the spaces we inhabit. The viewer becomes an active part of the work: by entering, inhabiting and interpreting the painted environment, they complete the installation and give it new meaning.
